Dior Summer 2013 makeup look

This post will be about the makeup look that I was taught to do during the Dior Beauty workshop. I forgot to mention it in the Rundown of the Dior Beauty workshop post, but I also used the Diorskin Sculpt Smoothing Lifting Concealer around the eyes and the Diorskin Poudre Libre (matte and luminous hydrating loose powder) in transparent medium to set the foundation. The loose powder has a very pretty shimmer. It instantly brightens your face.

Now that I have finished with the base makeup, we can finally move on to the color makeup. If you are curious about how I created this look, then keep reading.

Eye makeup

eyebrow pencil: Dior Sourcils Poudre Powder Eyebrow Pencil with brush in the color Sand 453

First, you needed to use the brush of the eyebrow pencil to brush the hairs of the eyebrow upwards. You can then draw light, little stripes with the eyebrow pencil (moving from the bottom to top and from the start to the end of the eyebrow. Lastly, you blend the color with the brush to make it look more natural.

eyeshadow: 5-Colour Eyeshadow palette - Peacock 434 from the Dior Bird of Paradise, Summer 2013 Collection.

Picture from Dior.
This eyeshadow palette is part of the Dior Bird of Paradise collection and the teal/forest green in it is one of favorite colors, so I have been wanting to try this eyeshadow palette. The friendly lady next to me used the 5-Colour Eyeshadow palette - Blue Lagoon 374 and it looked very beautiful with her blue eyes. That palette has some of the most gorgeous sea blue colors, but I thought green eyeshadow would look nicer with brown eyes than blue would.

She also get to use the Diorshow Liner Waterproof Long-lasting backstage eyeliner in Aqua Green 348, which is a very pretty green. It does not seem to work with the green colors that I was using, so regretfully I had to pass when she offered for me to use it. I was supposed to use a normal black pencil liner for under the eye instead, but amongst the chaos, the makeup artist had lent my black eyeliner pencil and I could not find it anymore. Instead, I used the light beige eyeshadow color of the Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow palette - Peacock 434 for the inner corners of my eye and the darkest green to shade along the lower lash line.

The makeup artist had taught me to mix the colors for the eyelid by swirling the brush over all colors. I was shocked when I saw him do it, I am not sure if I am able to ruin the beautiful eye shadow palette that way if that was mine. >_<  After applying the just mixed, personal blend of green eyeshadow color on the eyelids, I then accented the crease a bit with the darkest green color. For the upper lash line, I used this liquid eyeliner pen: Diorshow Art Pen  in Catwalk black 095. You can definitely tell which eye was lined by me and which one by the makeup artist.

It you haven't found out yet, the thick shaky black line was done by me and the straight, thin line starting from the center of the eye was done by the makeup artist.

mascara: Diorshow Iconic Overcurl in Over Black 090

This mascara was very good in creating and holding the curl in my lashes, but I don't know if it was because of my bad application, but it clumped a lot. I also did not apply the mascara on the ends of my lashes too well. ^_^

Blush

Diorskin Healthy glow booster blush Petal 001

The color of this blush looked very cool pink in the pact, but it turns into a rosy blush that is suitable for any complexion. It is for this reason that all of us in the group used the same color of blush. You should apply the blush in a s-shape starting from your temples, under your eye to the nose, and then towards under your ear.

I was too preoccupied with following the steps from the makeup artist that I didn't even notice that it wasn't actually a s-shape. It's more of a z-shape, but then with round curves like a S. By request, I have drawn how the shape is supposed to be on the Dior makeup sheet that I was given. Naturally, you are supposed to blend it out afterwards.

While I was doodling anyway, I have also added the green eyeshadow and the orange lips from my makeup look. ^_^

Lips ( Dior lipstick + lip gloss)

lip liner: Dior Contour lip pencil and brush - transparent 001, which is an universal lip liner, suitable to match with any lip color.
lipstick: Dior Addict Lipstick in Délice 433
lip gloss: Dior Addict Gloss in Délice 433

I forgot to take pictures, zoomed in on my lips, but you should be able to see the color in these pictures. We first lined the lips with the lip pencil to avoid the lipstick running out of the line. This lip pencil has no color and that's why it can be used with any lip color. It solves the problem of not having the right lip pencil color to match with the new lipstick color you just bought.
The Dior Addict lipstick underneath the lip gloss really had a darker color than the lip gloss, so I am worried that it might not look that nice with just the lip gloss. The lipstick was really necessary to bring out the color. The orange also mellowed down a bit during the day and became a bit pink.

Because I wanted a more toned down look in the evening (I couldn't remove the pretty makeup that I only had on for a couple of hours),  I applied a dark brown eyeshadow on the corners of my eye and created somewhat of a smokey eye look.  The key is to keep the shiny green eyeshadow in the middle part of the eye lid, right above your pupil. It brightens up your eyes that way. I haven't really applied the brown eyeshadow as neat as I wanted (I blame it on my bad makeup skills ^_^), but it still looks decent from far.

One more picture of the beautiful blush that I have on my wishlist now. ^_^
