Review: HEMA natural pink nail polish (Dior Nail Glow dupe)

I have always wanted to try the Dior Nail Glow, as it gives your nails a natural, pink glow on days that you don't want to wear nail polish. But €25 is just a bit too pricy for something that might just end up looking as a transparent nail polish on my nails. When I saw the new range of HEMA nail care products on the HEMA S/S 2014 press day, my eyes were drawn to the Natural Pink nail polish that looked like a dupe of the Dior Nail Glow. When I found out that it only cost €3.50 (it currently has a reduced price of €3.30), I just had to give it a try.

HEMA Natural Pink nail polish: Dior Nail Glow Dupe?

The nail polishes of the new HEMA nail care range all come in a black box with a small opening near the bottom, showing you a peek of the nail polish that is inside. Taken out of the box, you can see that the HEMA Natural Pink nail polish has a beautiful pink color with a dark purple glow.

To properly show you if the HEMA natural pink nail polish really improves the look of your nails, here is a clear picture of my bare nails.

In the following two pictures, I have applied it on all nails, except the nail of the pinky finger. This way, you can really see the difference between the bare nail and the nails with the HEMA natural pink nail polish. While my bare nails normally have an orange/yellow glow, they look rosy pink with the HEMA natural pink nail polish. The grey and slightly sheer free edge (tip of the nail) also look significantly whiter and opaque.

The HEMA natural pink nail polish has a syrup like consistency, but it applies perfectly without being too goopy or watery. You can apply an ample amount on your nail without worrying that it will flow over. After application, it dries to a very thin layer on the nails in a way that it doesn't make your nails look thicker than normal. The Hema natural pink nail polish also doesn't feel heavy on the nails, to be precise, you don't even feel that you have anything on your nails.

In the following two pictures, I have the HEMA natural pink nail polish on all nails and the strange purple parts on my nails have lessened a bit. Right after application, the areas near the base of the nails turned a bit purple, but this goes away entirely the next day.

My opinion

I have bought the HEMA natural pink nail polish a long time ago, but only when I decided to go some place nice for a long weekend, did an opportunity arise to properly test it. Being on vacation means that you do not have the time and means (such as nail polish remover, a range of nail polish colors, and cotton pads) to change the nail polish that you originally have on your nails. I also don't want to walk around and take a lot of pictures of myself with bare nails, so wearing the HEMA natural pink nail polish seemed like the best solution.

The HEMA natural pink nail polish did as promised as it gave me super glossy, rosy pink nails, which held up for an entire week. I did get some minor chipping due to lifting my suitcase up and down so many times during traveling, but it wasn't noticeable from afar. I can really recommend this nail polish for traveling, as you can also touch up your nails easily by applying a fresh layer on top.

I don't own the Dior Nail Glow, but from the swatch pictures that I can find online, it looks to have a very similar effect for just a fraction of the price.
