Skinfood Nail Vita Alpha ASG05 - Mint Candy review

After being very satisfied with my first set of Skinfood base and top coat (It is still the base and top coat combo that I am using right now ^_^), I am surprised by how long it took me before I actually bought a nail color from Skinfood. It happened to be a very special nail polish too. The Skinfood Nail Vita Alpha ASG05 - Mint Candy (10 ml., 3,500 won) is one of the six nail polishes from the Skinfood Sweet Candy collection that all have a sugar (or is it sand?) textured finish. As a matter of fact, this nail polish is the reason why I didn't buy any of the Etude House Sugar Powder Play Nails nail polishes.

Of course, I had to choose the mint one, as it is one of my favorite colors. Not only does it have a very pretty milky mint color, it also has many silver shimmers in it.

On the nail polish bottle, there is an oval sticker that is made of thick, high-quality paper and with a pretty bronze print.

The brush is a slightly wide and not too thick (as in: taking up too much product at once). I find it quite easy to use.

On the pretty ivory cap, there is a small angel with wings. It is a very cute detail.

Now let's see how the Skinfood Nail Vita Alpha ASG05 - Mint Candy looks like on the nails.

Skinfood Nail Vita Alpha ASG05 - Mint Candy (before it fully dried)

I tried taking a picture of the nail polish that was still wet and smooth, but since it dries very fast, only the nails on the ring finger and pinky are still a bit wet. I really like how it looks when it is all glossy, so I felt a bit sad when the texture started to come out.

Although I was sad to see the glossy and sparkly finish go, it looks really pretty fully dried too. You can see the result the best on the nail of my index finger. The color becomes a bit muted/greyish mint, but the silver shimmers make the nails sparkle in the sun.

My opinion

Compared to the Etude House nail polish RD302 - Ruby Red Sand, this nail polish is a lot harder to remove, but on the other hand, it lasts longer on the nails. The shimmers are also a lot more subtle than the two other sand nail polishes that I own (the Etude House nail polish RD302 - Ruby Red Sand and the GOSH frosted nail lacquer 03 - Frosted purple). It needed two coats to look pretty and the grittiness didn't feel that bad to touch. This nail polish also has a slightly sweet scent that doesn't bother me too much. Sand nail polishes will probably never be a favorite of mine, but I am still very happy to own this pretty nail polish.
