NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polishes review

After the pretty NYC Super Nova Sparkle top coat, four more NYC nail polishes were added to my nail polish collection. The NYC (New York Color) Crystal Couture glitters nail polishes were created to give you the same feeling as wearing a beautiful sequined or glitter couture dress.

In the NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polish collection are four glitter nail polishes (purple, red, gold, and blue). The colors remind me a bit of the four Missha The Style Gem Stone nail polishes that I have.

NYC Strip Me Off base coat

Before I started wearing them on my nails, I first applied a coat of the NYC Strip Me Off base coat, which was released around the same time as the NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polishes. On your nails, it looks like a white nail polish at first, but it dries to a completely transparent layer. It takes some time for it to dry, but it is easy to see when you can start applying a glitter nail polish on top. It is the best peel-off base coat that I have tried so far. The glitter nail polish stayed on my nails for at least four days without any chipping and there was no "withdrawal" (=something that tend to happen with earlier released peel-off base coats) on the tip of the nails either.

I forgot to mention it in my earlier NYC nail polish review, but it has a medium sized brush in terms of thickness and width. I was able to apply the nail polish quite well with it, but I did notice that some of the sides of my nails were not covered with nail polish. Fixing the mistakes wasn't very easy due to the slight thickness of the nail polish consistency, so it is better to apply it nicely on the nails immediately. It does however apply smoothly on the nails, without being too thick to spread out. There is also a slight noticeable nail polish scent, but the sweetness mixed into the scent makes it bearable.

The NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polishes all fully cover the nails with glitters and has a deep color of base coat with just one layer. But to make it look better in the pictures, I applied two layers.

The NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polish 012 - Ruby Queen is a red jelly nail polish with metallic red and purple glitters suspended in it. The purple glitters add a nice contrast to it.

The NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polish 013 - NY Princess is a purple jelly nail polish with metallic purple and blue glitters suspended in it. With this nail polish, you can distinguish the individual glitters better than in the previous nail polish.

The NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polish 014 - Blue Majesty is a blue jelly nail polish that has blue metallic glitters in it. It is also possible that some glitters are green and some are blue, but the colors look so similar that you could not set them apart. The base has less coverage than the previous two nail polishes (maybe because of the lighter color), so in this case, it was really necessary to apply two coats for it to look nice. Without glitters in contrasting colors, this glitter nail polish may look a bit plain, but the interesting blue/green color makes up for it a bit.

The NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polish 011 - Fashion Queen seems to be the exception in this collection, as I could not see the jelly base. It mainly looks like a metallic gold glitter nail polish to me. By using contrasting glitters in gold and bronze gold, it created lots of depth.

My opinion

I was positively surprised by the NYC Strip Me Off Basecoat and I will definitely re-purchase it, as it only costs €2.99. I might be so impressed, because I haven't used any of the recently released peel-off coats as I am still finishing the older generation ones. But for that price, it is not really necessary to shop around. My favorite of the NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polishes would be the 013 - NY Princess, as the beautiful purple color really made my hands look better.

I have used these NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polishes in a nail tutorial creating colorful rainbow popsicle nails. You can watch the YouTube video here and in it, I will also show you how to use the NYC Strip Me Off base coat.
