Recipe: baguette with serrano, sun-dried tomatoes, peccorino, and rocket

During the summer, I held a seafood barbeque party (see part 1 and part 2) and this last part, is a recipe from my brother. I have been brain-washing all the men that I know into thinking that it is extremely charming and attractive if a man can cook. Since he had started living on its own, he has actually cooked for the family many times now. So, it is good to see that it worked on someone (and now, all that's left for me is convincing the rest of the men in the world). ^_^

The Schmidt zeevis seafood barbeque set that we ordered, came with a long, rustic baguette, and my brother took the liberty to show off his food making skills.

recipe: baquette with serrano ham, sun-dried tomatoes, peccorino, and rocket lettuce

What you need

  • a long baguette
  • a pack of serrano ham
  • a jar of sun-dried tomatoes in olive oil (cut them in small pieces, as they tend to be very sour >_<)
  • a small bag of rocket lettuce
  • grated peccorino cheese
  • optional: pesto

It may look like that there is too much rocket lettuce on the baguette, but it really is just right. The Jamón serrano ham tasted very good with it. The peccorino cheese added a subtle cheese flavor to the whole thing, without being too overpowering. The sun-dried tomatoes were too large though, but it is a lot better than my baquette with only Jamón Serrano ham, that was totally lacking in inspiration.

A lesson I learned with men is that if you want them to do (more) household chores, it is better to be generous with compliments and stingy with criticism. ^_^
