Review: Mona yogurt pudding with honey sauce

It has been a while since I last bought a Mona pudding and when I saw that this month's dessert of the month is a yogurt pudding with honey sauce (in Dutch: Yoghurt pudding met honingsaus), I couldn't resist buying it.

Inside the paper wrapper, you can find a suggestion on how to make this pudding taste better (which is adding a handful of roasted walnuts!) and a rebus with a hint of what next month's pudding will be. The part I got stuck with is the second picture and after some thinking, I realized it is a dress and underneath is written "urk=e".

 

I think it is okay to write the spoiler here (far enough from the rebus) that the next pudding will have a Mexican theme. I also like that there is a cute promotion of another Mona dessert on the lid.

What do I think of the Mona yogurt pudding with honey sauce?

It is a airy, yogurt pudding with enough tartness and the thick sauce has a rich honey flavor. I was really surprised that the pudding actually had a yogurt flavor as the airy texture normally makes the flavor less noticeable. However, I think that a normal milk pudding made with yogurt would have tasted better. The honey sauce is surprisingly similar to honey, but more liquid and less sticky. This pudding isn't something you would eat when you are craving for something really rich and satisfying like a chocolate cake. It is rather a more delicious version of the normal bowl of yogurt with a swirl of honey that you might have at breakfast.
