Ice cream at Jans Delft

After walking around at the Saturday market of Delft, we stopped for a short ice cream break at Jans. It is a lunchroom with an ice cream counter. In the back, you can enjoy a cup of coffee with a slice of cake or a sandwich and at the front, there are more than 20 ice cream flavors for you to choose from.   

From left to right and top to bottom: Raspberry, Greek yogurt-honey-walnut, Pistachio, Picasso, Hazelnut meringue, Coffee, Raspberry, Passion fruit, Banana toffee, Mango, Lemon, and Snickers. 

From left to right and top to bottom: Hazelnut, Blueberry, Jan Hagel cookies, Boerenjongens (rum raisin), chocolate, 70% cocoa, Oreo, Caramel cookie, Salted Caramel, Strawberry, White Chocolate, and Trio chocolate.  

 

 What ice cream flavors did I pick?

I was tempted to get their chocolate flavored ice cream (white chocolate, 70% cocoa, and trio chocolate with pieces of nougat), but I got the Picasso and the Pistachio instead. The Pistachio was pretty good here: the texture was a bit powdery and the nutty end taste was great. It didn't have a too milky or too lemony flavor, just nutty. I really liked that. The Picasso was really delicious too: it had a tart yogurt ice cream, some sweet-sour cherries, and dark chocolate chips. It is like the yogurt version of the Cherry Mania ice cream that I liked so much at the Doppio ice cream parlor. There were also some meringue on top of the ice cream in the counter, but I didn't happen to get any in my scoop, so I cannot say much about that.

Someone else got the Lemon and the Passion Fruit sorbet ice cream. I tasted it a bit and the Lemon sorbet tasted like those light lemon ice bars, which reminded me of when I was a kid. The Passion fruit sorbet had a rich passion fruit flavor, but I just normally don't like it that much as an ice cream flavor.
