Bungeo-ppang (붕어빵) - fish shaped pastry with sweet red bean filling
Besides getting bread at the bread & co. shop in the nearby metro station and getting Korean onigiri from the convenience store, we also had Korean bungeo-ppang (fish shaped pastry with sweet red bean filling) as snacks.
There is a bungeo-ppang street vendor located in the street on the way from hotel Venue-G to the Jongno 3-ga metro station. It is manned by a friendly lady, who understood us when we told her that we wanted four in English, while we showed her four fingers just to make sure. I can only count to three in Korean, so I had to speak English. I did understood her, when she replied in Korean somehow. All those hours watching Korean drama have paid off after all.
Although she gave us four fish pastries from on top of the heater, it was still very crispy and warm. The dough on the outside was very thin and crispy like it was fried. Inside, there was a lot of sweet red bean filling. I like that you can still see and taste the individual pieces of red bean. The filling was also not too sweet for me. It was really cheap, just 1,000 won for two.
