Ciaté Mini Mani Month 2013 calendar review - door 1
Just to prove that I wasn't lying when I said that I have a giant backlog and that I haven't even unwrapped my Christmas presents yet, I will show you one of the Christmas presents I got last year: the Ciaté Mini Mani Month 2013 calendar. It truly is a gem for a nail polish collector extraordinaire like me. I was actually thinking of getting this year's Ciaté Mini Mani Manor too, but by the time that I have swatched the Ciaté mini nail polishes from this advent calender, I think I would have counted down to Christmas already.
The Ciaté Mini Mani Month 2013 calendar has a carton box with a wool Christmas sweater print and you can open it like a book. I have actually been storing it in my book case. I wish I could store all my nail polishes away like this. It is so neatly organized and it makes it easy to find the nail polish that you want.
Inside, you can find 24 doors and a small black funnel (indicating that it contains at least one bottle of Ciaté caviar pearls). At the back of the Ciaté Mini Mani Month calender, you can actually see all the nail polishes that are inside, but I have avoided looking at it properly, so what is behind each door will be a total surprise to me. I did glance at the back cover for a bit and I know that there are 19 mini Ciaté nail polishes of 5 ml, 1 full size Ciaté paint pot of 13.5 ml, and four bottles of caviar pearls, glitter sprinkles, and sequins.
Behind the first door is the Ciaté mini nail polish PP146 - snow globe. It is a very pretty nail polish with pieces of holographic foil suspended in a clear base. Since I don't own any Ciaté nail polishes and this is actually my first introduction to them, I was surprised to see that the nail polish bottles are curved inwards at the back. You really don't notice that when you look at the nail polish bottles from the front.
Although the cap is shorter than normal, I had no problem with opening the nail polish bottle. The brush is also long and wide enough, just like a normal nail polish brush.
Even though the Ciaté mini nail polish PP146 - snow globe looked very promising in the bottle, the application was quite tricky. The clear base is very goopy and it is hard to spread out when it is starting to dry. So, you really need to use swift strokes. I had to let go of my habit of wiping off some excess nail polish from the brush on the rim of the nail polish bottle and just apply a lot directly on the nails. I also needed to flatten the holographic foil pieces that easily clump together.

You can find an inspiring quote behind each door and this is the quote behind door number 1: There's no better feeling than making somebody smile (and having yourself smile at the same time - added by me).

I will first show you the Ciaté mini nail polish PP146 - snow globe on bare nails. You cannot really see it in the pictures, but in reality, the holographic foil pieces look a lot more colorful.
I have also worn it on top of the Rimmel Salon Pro nail polish 500 - Peppermint. I thought it would complement the blue that you can see in the holographic foil. The clear base of the Ciaté mini nail polish PP146 - snow globe doesn't look very glossy when it has fully dried, so I applied a top coat on top. I do have to warn you that the holographic foil is quite hard to remove afterwards. So, using a peel-off base coat beforehand might be a good idea.
I am not sure when I will review the next Ciaté mini nail polish, but you can already have a sneak peek of the Ciaté nail polish behind door number 2.
