Pumpkin mochi cakes

As pumpkins had become widely available due to Halloween, my mom decided to make pumpkin mochi cakes. You can eat them directly after steaming, but I prefer to eat most glutinous rice flour cakes, after frying it a bit in a pan. The crunchy outside combined with the chewy center is the best.

I don't have the exact recipe as I wasn't there when she made them, but you basically follow the normal mochi making recipe and add steamed pumpkin mash to the batter. My mom really likes to experiment with different flavors and the unusual sweet-savory peanut filling turned out very delicious.
