De Bijenkorf online barista masterclass
Last time, I had an online tofu making class and I loved it so much that I signed up for an online barista masterclass organized by the department store, de Bijenkorf. The barista made two drinks: a cappuccino and a latte. He showed us how to make milk foam and he told us that you are supposed to let it sit for a short while after making it and let the coffee cool down a little bit before adding the milk foam. Lastly, a representative from Monin coffee syrups talked a bit about their products. He revealed that the top 3 syrups were caramel, vanilla, and hazelnut (in order of rank). I was surprised to hear that caramel is the all-time favorite of the Dutch consumers and even the popularity of vanilla and hazelnut combined were not as much as the top 1. Personally, I like the hazelnut the most, as I had a Heavenly hazel (name of a drink) addiction from the Douwe Egberts cafe at the university during my college years.
Before the masterclass, I received a box of goodies that I could use during the masterclass. It contained a large bag of de Bijenkorf coffee beans (750g), a handmade dark chocolate bar with a cute bees print, two Blond Amsterdam cups with black and white print (worth €6.95 each), and a premium Monin coffee syrups set. The barista masterclass was quite nice, even though I didn't have a fully automatic coffee machine at home. I do have a milk foam machine and the tiny bottles of syrups that I received have delicious flavors (French vanilla, Salted caramel, and Chocolate cookie) that I cannot wait to try out.
