NYC Expert Last Lip Lacquers review

After the very pretty NYC Crystal Couture glitters nail polishes of which I also made a YouTube nail tutorial video of, I discovered that they also make great lip products. The NYC Expert Last Lip Lacquers are one of their latest products and I will review 5 out of the 6 colors. I have the colors: 100 - bare brooklyn, 204 - central park passion, 500 - rockaway ruby, 600 - turtle bay toffee, and 400 - big city berry. The one that I am missing is the 203 - FiDi Fuchsia.

The packaging of the NYC Expert Last Lip Lacquers is very light and made of plastic, but it looks very expensive, as if the bottom part is made of glass. One thing I would like to see improved is the silver print as it started to crumble really fast and it doesn't look very nice.

They have a doe foot applicator and most of the lip product clings to the tip part. The lip lacquers are so pigmented that I only needed to dip into the container once.

From left to right: 100 - bare brooklyn (a nude, beige color), 204 - central park passion (a pretty mauve pink), 600 - turtle bay toffee (a warm brown color with a pink undertone), 500 - rockaway ruby (dark rose red), and 400 - big city berry (red with a tinge of fuchsia).

My opinion

The NYC Expert Last Lip Lacquers feel very smooth and not heavy on the lips. It looks semi-glossy (as in: not as glossy as a lip gloss, but more like an opaque lipstick with a bit of a shine) and I like that they are not drying and sticky. One light swipe already gives your lips an intense color. They have a lip tint effect (which helps in making the lips remain looking good for a long time), but it doesn't stain immediately. Small mistakes in the application can just be wiped off without any problems. You also don't see a thick coat of lip product on top of your lips nor do they not attach on the inner parts of the bottom lip. The only flaw is that they still transfer all over the place like a normal lipstick. I don't like leaving lip stick stains on cups and such, so that's why I still prefer wearing lip tints and lip glosses.

To me, they are like the improved version of the Rimmel lip lacquers. I was reminded of those, because they seem to have the same raspberry chewing candy/sour yogurt scent. When you compare the NYC Expert Last Lip Lacquers to the Dior Addict Fluid Stick that I have reviewed previously, I would say that as a lipstick-lip gloss hybrid, the NYC Expert Last Lip Lacquer leans more to the lipstick side, while the Dior Addict Fluid Stick leans more to the lip gloss side.

You might be wondering where my lip pictures are, but I will be showing them in a range of blog posts, in which I will show each of the DIY Expert Last Lip Lacquer in combination with an eye makeup look I made with the Clio All That Eye Styler kit 1 and the Clio All That Eye Styler kit 2. I felt that I haven't showcased all the possible looks that you can create with them enough, so I played around with them a bit. Some makeup looks worked out, some didn't. So be sure to keep an eye an my blog.
