DIY: Chanel nail polish 583 Taboo dupe - second attempt
After my first attempt at creating a dupe for the Chanel nail polish 583 Taboo, I wanted to try again. Last time, I was able to sort of mimic the blue and the purple shimmers of the Chanel Taboo nail polish, but this time, I want to challenge myself to get the same burgundy red glow. I used the HEMA long lasting nail polish 827 as the base color and the Max Factor Max Effect mini nail polish 45 - Fantasy Fire as the top coat.
I stumbled upon this beautiful Max Factor nail polish, the last time I was in Amsterdam for the Grazia Fashion bloggers Masterclass, back in January. (and all this time, I haven't found the opportunity to swatch this amazing nail polish). There was only one bottle left in the store, so I felt really lucky to be able to buy it. It was quite hard to find, here in the Netherlands. The waiting time before they can ship it to you, is currently still 12 weeks (!) at this large, Dutch online store: Bol.com.

First, I applied one coat of the HEMA long lasting nail polish 827.
It is a beautiful purple nail polish with purple/gold duo chrome shimmers. It normally looks like a purple glitter nail polish, but when light hits it, you will start to see the golden shimmers like in the bottle.
Then, I added the Max Factor Max Effect mini nail polish 45 - Fantasy Fire over it.
In this picture underneath, I only applied it on the index and the middle finger first to see if it looks nice. You can really tell the difference: the top coat actually added the burgundy red shimmers that I wanted. It is a lot closer dupe than the previous one that I made. It also got the cool color shifting properties that the Max Factor nail polish is famous for.

From now onwards, all the nails pictured have the Max Factor Max Effect mini nail polish 45 - Fantasy Fire over it. I really tried hard to capture all the color shifts, so enjoy the many pictures that I took.
