Marks & Spencer Strawberry & Buttercream Mini Bites review

As I have written in my Review of the Marks & Spencer Hand Cooked Lemon Harissa Potato Crisps, I have bought two Summer of Flavour products and this is the second one, the Strawberry & Buttercream Mini Bites.

On the lid, you can find that they are described as: "chocolate sponge with strawberry jam & buttercream filling smothered in thick milk chocolate with red & white sugar sprinkles".

I couldn't help buying it, as the picture on the plastic bucket just reeled me in - how can anyone resist the combination of butter cream, strawberry jam, chocolate, and colorful sprinkles? ^_^

Although in the picture, the sprinkles are neatly placed on top of the mini bites, there were barely any sprinkles on most of them, except for one.

Of course, I had to take that one out for the close-up pictures.

It looks very delicious, so I just had to take a bite.

Marks & Spencer Strawberry & Buttercream Mini Bite inside

My opinion

The chocolate cake was full of chocolate flavor and very soft. I really like the soft, milk chocolate layer on the outside too. The red and white sprinkles added a nice crunch, but there weren't that many on the other mini bites in the bucket. The butter cream and the strawberry jam that were inside the mini cake roll made sure that the mini bite was moist and not too dry. The only flaw was that there wasn't enough strawberry jam in them, so I couldn't really taste any strawberry flavor. I have eaten other mini bites from Marks & Spencer before, so I know that they can do better than this. Still, they are really great, one bite snacks that you can serve at any party. Just make sure to place the better looking ones - with lots of sprinkles - on top. ^_~
