Review: MUA Sweet Sheen lip balm - French Violet and Coral Reef
If you have been following my blog, you would know that I just adore glossy and sheer lip balms with a lot of color. To name a few of my favorites: the HEMA Pretty Lips lipglosses, Benefit hydrating tinted lip balms (chachabalm and posiebalm), eSpoir no wear sheer lipstick, and the Etude House Sweet Recipe Dear My Jelly Lips. I have never tried any of the lip products from MUA before, so I was really curious to find out if I would like the MUA Sweet Sheen lip balms in the colors: French Violet and Coral Reef.
At first, I was totally in love with the Coral Reef color (coral is just my favorite!) and reluctant about trying the French Violet color. But unexpectedly, French Violet turned out prettier than I thought. I would have never picked out a purple lip product as they tend to have to many blue tones in them, making me look pale and sickly. But this one is quite warm and I find it quite flattering.
To make the lip balms stand out more, I wore the subtle, glittery light pink eye shadow, Cherub from the MUA eyeshadow palette - Spring Break on my eyelids.
Packaging
The MUA Sweet Sheen lip balms* (€3.49, 2.8 g) come in a bit cheap looking and feeling plastic tubes, but I like the transparent cap and the metallic prints on them. The color on the tube is also the color of the lip balm, so it is really easy to see if you grabbed the right color in your cosmetic bag. The lip balm bullet also sometimes scrapes off at the sharp edges of the tube, making a mess. So be careful and wipe off the excess before you put the transparent cap back on.What do I think?
The MUA Sweet Sheen lip balms have a sweet, vanilla cupcake scent and just one coat is enough to show the color (but you can layer more if you want). It applies smoothly on the lips, but you might need to be careful with dry skin as the lip balm emphasizes it and doesn't soften and smoothen it out over time. It also feels very comfortable on the lips, not heavy at all.At first, I was totally in love with the Coral Reef color (coral is just my favorite!) and reluctant about trying the French Violet color.
