Nail design inspiration: Pantone Rose Quartz & Serenity
In 2016, the Pantone color of the year is for the first time two blended colors: Rose Quartz (a soft pink) and Serenity (a calming light blue). I think the colors look amazing together and it inspired me to create this nail design. I had done something similar years ago (here), but my photographing skills were very bad (it doesn't do the two beautiful nail polishes justice), so I am doing this again but even better and more stunning like what I did with the Canmake nail polish no. 28.
We start off with about 4-5 thin coats of the Canmake Colorful Nails nail polish no. 43. It is quite sheer, so I needed that many layers to bring out the pink color. You really need a lot of patience, because with that many layers, you need it to be dried up properly before you apply another layer on top.
For the next step, you need a lot of patience too. I used the Sasatinnie Super Dolly Fantasy Colour nail polish FCW034, which is a sheer blue nail polish with lots of multi color fine shimmers. I discovered that the color is very build-able, so it is great to create gradation nails with. Some parts aren't that pretty because I got impatient and picked up too much nail polish on my nail polish brush at once. You really need to create very thin layers and this gets a bit tricky, because having too little nail polish on the nail polish brush can make the whole thing smudge (you will have to do that nail all over again!) and when you apply too much, it makes the blue color too opaque and not transparent enough. I think it looks the best on the nails of the middle finger and ring finger. It really has the water paint effect that I wanted.
As a final touch, I used the Face Shop WH001 top coat to smooth out and blend the two colors and to give it a glossy look, but any glossy top coat should do the trick.
