Review: Etude House Bling in the Sea nail polish no. 2 - Magical Kiss

Sorry for the short absence, but I am back again with another Etude House nail polish, the Magical Kiss nail polish from the Etude House Bling in the Sea collection. From the promotional pictures, I thought it had an interesting, gritty glitter texture similar to the Etude House Ruby red sand nail polish, so that's why I decided to buy it.

When I finally received this nail polish, I was really mesmerized by the beautiful glitters. I could not wait to wear this nail polish on my nails. But because I was so busy, I could not use this until just recently. There are no signs of summer left at where I live, but I will wear this special summer nail polish regardless. ^_^

The Etude House Magical Kiss nail polish has a sheer pink base saturated with gold shimmers and with small hexagonal glitters in pink and in fuchsia.

Underneath, you can see how this nail polish looks like with one coat and with two coats.

The benefit of wearing just one coat is that you can see the individual glitters better, but the nail rims will be showing. So, you need to have some healthy looking nails underneath. It is best to wear a good base coat.

The benefit of wearing two coats is that you can cover the nail rims better, although you can still see where they are. You can also add more coats, but I prefer a bit of sheerness. Although this looks great just applied and still wet, I have noticed that this glitter nail polish tends to dry to a somewhat matte finish. I have never seen it happen before with my other glitter nail polishes, but it doesn't look very sparkly when it is totally dry. You can see what I mean in the two pictures underneath.

To sum up:
I was really excited, when I was finally able to hold this nail polish in my hands, but it sadly doesn't look as nice on my nails as I expected and from looking at the bottle. It did have a bit of a uneven surface due to the larger glitters (not as gritty as sand texture nail polishes), but when you apply a thick coat, the fine gold shimmers cover up the larger hexagonal glitters and make them lose their shine. On a brighter side, it does remove quite easily for a glitter nail polish.

Update: I applied a top coat over this nail polish and it looked instantly better. You can see it in this post: Etude House Help my Finger Art Gel Coat review.
